In the history of the development of Georgian theological-philosophical thought, the literary and scribal school of Gelati occupies a special place. It is distinguished by its ultra-Hellenophile translation direction, which implies the creation of a Georgian translation that accurately reflects the original text on the morpheme-lexical-syntactic level. One Gelatian manuscript code (K14) containing the writings of St. Maximus the Confessor is created with the principles of formal equivalent translation. One of the 24 works contained in it is "Answers of St. Maximus to the Questions of Thalasse" („Quaestiones ad Thalassioum“).
Georgian text according to lexical circumstance is very interesting. We find that kind of words, such as მუღროობა (Mughrooba), ცმადირობა (Tsmadiroba), სიცრთუე (Sitsrtue), ანკანაკობა (Anka-naoba)…
In many cases, the Gelatian scribe rejects the terms established in the Georgian translation and suggests new terms. In the article, we will discuss the following terms: მოდი (modi), მეტკუჱთილობა (met’k’uetiloba), მლევანება (mlevaneba). Studying Other lexemes, which we richly find in handwriting K-14, is the subject of our next time research.
