Information For Librarians

Peer Review Methodology

The journal Issues of Terminology utilizes external experts to evaluate submitted manuscripts and assist the editorial board in making publication decisions.

  • Initial Screening: Upon submission, all papers undergo an initial screening. Manuscripts that fall outside the journal’s scope or fail to meet basic academic standards are rejected immediately.
  • Peer Review: All other original research papers are forwarded for peer review.
  • Reviewer Selection: Reviewers are selected based on their expertise and experience in the specific subject matter of the manuscript. They may be drawn from the Editorial Board or invited as external experts.
  • Anonymity: The journal implements a Double-Blind Peer Review policy: to ensure objectivity and prevent bias, neither the authors nor the reviewers are aware of each other’s identities.
  • Timeline: The review process generally does not exceed one month.
  • Decision: The Editorial Board reaches a final decision after receiving at least two independent reviews.

Ethical Peer Review — Guidelines for Reviewers

The journal strictly complies with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Guidelines for Peer Reviewers. Reviewers are explicitly requested to note the following:

  • Conflict of Interest: If a reviewer identifies any personal, financial, intellectual, professional, political, or institutional conflict of interest that may compromise their objectivity, they must immediately notify the editorial office and recuse themselves. Reviewers should not agree to review if they are employed at the same institution as the author, or have been a close collaborator, mentor, or co-grant holder within the past 3 years.
  • Confidentiality: Reviewers must respect the absolute confidentiality of the peer review process. It is prohibited to use information obtained during review for personal gain or to disadvantage others. Reviewers must not involve anyone else (including early-career researchers under their mentorship) in the review process without prior permission from the journal.
  • Timeliness: Reviewers are requested to submit their reports by the specified deadline and to promptly inform the editorial office if a delay is anticipated.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Usage Policy for Reviewers

The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and chatbots during the peer review process is permitted only as an auxiliary tool (e.g., to refine language-editing suggestions or improve the overall clarity of the review report).

Uploading submitted manuscripts or parts of them into external AI tools is strictly prohibited, as this violates confidentiality principles and intellectual property protections. AI must not be used to generate the substance of the review, perform scientific evaluation, formulate arguments, or determine publication recommendations. Full responsibility for the professionalism, impartiality, and ethical integrity of the review rests entirely with the reviewer.

(Reviewers are kindly asked to ensure their feedback remains polite, constructive, and strictly academic).
