Information For Authors

The journal Issues of Terminology publishes scientific articles, critical reviews, discussions, and bibliographies. Submissions are accepted in either Georgian or English.

  1. Length of Submission

The length of a scientific article must not exceed 40,000 characters (including spaces).

The length of a review must not exceed 20,000 characters.

Longer works may be published only with the prior consent of the Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Board.

  1. Submission Format

Articles must be submitted electronically in Microsoft Word and Adobe PDF formats (*.doc, *.docx, *.pdf). It is recommended to use MS Word 2010 or a later version.

Color and black-and-white illustrations (if any) must be sent as separate files in *.jpg or *.tiff format, with a resolution of at least 300 dpi. The intended placement of each illustration must be clearly indicated within the text.

  1. Submission Structure
  • Ensuring Anonymity: To ensure a blind review, the initial version of the manuscript submitted for peer review must not contain the name(s) and surname(s) of the author(s). This information will be appended only after the final acceptance of the article.
  • First Page of the Article (in the final version): Must include the author’s full name, academic affiliation (place of work), and the author's ORCID iD. This is followed by an abstract (up to 800 characters) and a maximum of 5 keywords, both provided in Georgian and English. Abstracts are not required for reviews.
  • Last Page of the Article: Must state the date of submission, the postal address of the author’s institution (or personal address), and the email address.
  • If the article is written in a language other than the author’s native tongue, the author is responsible for ensuring that the text undergoes language editing by a qualified language specialist prior to publication.
  1. In-Text Citations and References
  • Literature cited within the text should be indicated in parentheses: author's surname, year of publication, a colon, and the page number. For example: (Chikobava 1950: 125).
  • For dictionaries, encyclopedias, and similar reference publications, standard acronyms or initialisms should be used (e.g., GSE for the Georgian Soviet Encyclopedia).
  • The article must be followed by a bibliography (Bibliography / References) arranged in alphabetical order.
  • Important Requirement: In accordance with the standards of international scientific databases, all sources listed in the references must be presented in the Latin alphabet.
    • For non-Latin scripts (e.g., Georgian or Cyrillic), sources must be transliterated according to international standards (ISO 9).
    • Titles of works in non-Latin scripts must be translated into English, with the translation enclosed in square brackets [...].
  • DOI Identifier: Wherever available, a permanent DOI code must be provided instead of a standard website URL.
  • In the text, titles of books and journals must be italicized, while titles of specific articles should be enclosed in „quotation marks” (or "double quotation marks" in English texts). Authors must be introduced by their full name upon their first mention in the text. Bibliographic entries must specify both the place of publication and the name of the publishing house.
  1. Citing Linguistic Examples in the Text
  • Illustrative linguistic examples within the text must be distinguished using italics. The use of bold type for examples is not permitted.
  • Word meanings should be enclosed in single or double quotation marks as appropriate to the language of the paper. In English-language articles, a period must be used for decimals and a comma for thousands.
  1. Artificial Intelligence (AI ) Usage Policy

The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and chatbots in the preparation of articles submitted to the journal is permitted only as an auxiliary tool. Authors may utilize AI tools for language editing, stylistic refinement, enhancing text clarity, or addressing technical matters (e.g., polishing abstract formulations or generating illustrations).

However, AI must not be used to generate scientific content, analyze or interpret research data, or formulate conclusions and theoretical ideas. Artificial intelligence tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors of a paper. The manuscript must explicitly state which sections were created with the assistance of AI (e.g., illustrations). The author bears full responsibility for the originality, accuracy, and scientific assertions of the submitted text.

  1. Manuscript Submission for Peer Review

Articles must be submitted through the journal's electronic publishing system (OJS).

(Notice for Authors: Please note that certain automated notifications from the OJS platform may be filtered into your email account's Spam folder. We kindly advise you to check this folder)

  1. Article Processing Charges (APCs)

To maintain high-quality publishing standards, peer-review processes, and the global dissemination of research, the journal requires an Article Processing Charge (APC) for accepted manuscripts.

The publication fees are structured as follows:

  • For authors based in Georgia: 130 GEL
  • For international authors: 50 EUR

This fee covers editorial management, peer review, copyediting, and online hosting. The payment is required only after the manuscript has been formally accepted for publication.
