Vukol Beridze Association of Terminology of Georgia(Tasks and Objectives)

Abstract

Terminology work plays one of the most important roles in many European countries. Terminology associations and language institutes of Estonia, France, Sweden, Spain, and other countries work on terminology according to the language law.

The European Association for Terminology (EAFT) was founded in 1996. Almost 40 organizations (different terminological centers or language institutes) are members of EAFT, which also cooperates with different international organizations. The European Association for Terminology intends “to provide a platform at the European level for the promotion and coordination of terminological activities and the heightened awareness, improved recognition and continued professionalization of the terminology sector”.

In order to promote terminological activity at international conferences,
Symposiums, seminars, and summits are held every year. EAFT also offers summer schools, and two International Terminology Awards are given every two years – the International Award for Outstanding Achievement in Theoretical/ Fundamental Research in the Field of Terminology and the International Award for Applied Terminology Research and Development.

Vukol Beridze Association of Terminology of Georgia, founded on 27 June, 2017, has already been admitted as a member of the European Association
for Terminology (EAFT).

can become any person interested in the field of terminology. The article concerns the objectives and main tasks of the terminology association.
