The issues of establishing of new constructional terms

Abstract

The Faculty of Construction of Georgian Technical University has prepared 6 volumes of “Illustrated Explanatory Dictionary of Constructional terms”. This dictionary includes more then 15 300 words and almost 2 500
colored illustrations. Many single-word terms are presented with the results of etymological research. Words are given in alphabetical order. The visual space of terms is full of formulas, circuitry, sketches and pictures. This kind of visibility gives us the possibility to learn the content of each term.

Language is a constantly changing phenomenon; many new concepts and the area of usage of terms are changing. Our job serves for
adding explanations in the modern edition of the dictionary.

Accordingly, while working on the new edition, the authors created some new constructional terms, which are not given in Georgian internet resources and publications, or are presented inaccurately.

In this article, we’ll represent part of the terms, which are names of
ornamental motifs of decorative architecture.
