On the Issue of Linguonyms in the Dictionary of Actual Linguistic Terms and Concepts

Abstract

In the linguistic metalanguage, a significant part of which is the linguistic terminology, linguonyms have their own place.

A linguonym is a specific unit of a metalanguage that marks a certain language, a dialect or a language family as a subject of description. Linguonyms are nomenclatural units. Our objective is to
determine the place of linguonyms in the dictionary of actual linguistic terms and concepts that is being compiled by the Department of General
Linguistics of the Arnold Chikobava Institute of Linguistics at TSU. In order
to solve the said problem, the paper discusses the issue of interrelation
between terminology and nomenclature at large; it shows the confrontation of a nomenclatural unit and a term as subjective and
conceptual signs; it reviews different linguistic approaches based on
which is made on creatinzg brief linguonymic annex for the printed version of the dictionary of actual linguistic terms and concepts
that will unite the lexical units related only to Kartvelian languages.
