The aim of the represented work is to adjust the Georgian metalanguage to the English language structure, namely, to the verb morphology. My observations allow me to conclude that the morphologic-semantic functions of the tense–mood series of the English verbs were ambiguous and difficult to understand because of those linguistic terms which had been accepted in Georgian for teaching English. This factor made it complicated to understand the whole system of the language. Contraposition analysis allowed us to reveal the common as well as differing elements among Georgian and English verbs. For the common units revealed, named mtskrivi in Georgian, we choose the terms rooted in the Georgian grammar such as: repeating, iterative actions – kholmeobiti in Georgian; actions with results, or perfect - shedegobiti and continuous actions - gangrzobiti. As for the differing signs, we analyzed the linguistic peculiarities of the given mtskrivi and worked out a new notion – happening now – mimdinareobiti.
