Languages change in time and space. The process of language change, viewed from both synchronic and diachronic perspectives, presents an interesting linguistic picture. On different levels of development, lexical units that were previously unknown and not used in everyday speech gather and accumulate in the language. From this point, the Georgian language is truly unique, steadfast and enduring. It is also very important that despite multiple aggressive attempts at assimilation, the Georgian language still preserves “sleeping” lexical units which can be found and reanimated. The best illustration for this is introducing the word sashuqi in the meaning of window in the literary language. The represented article discusses the Georgian terms associated with such branches of life as constructing buildings, cattle breeding, the workability of soil and others. For example, we can find several terms of different origin, denoting “floor” (fini, doshama, and poli). Also, it is interesting to investigate the term and its motivation, namely: Karapila (Yrafila) acknowledged as the name of the variety of apple, found in the village Ghurta (in Adjara) and the same word denoting a place-name (toponym) in Gori region; or also, how it happened that the lexical material denoting building processes and buildings, such as qori, charkhili (replaced later with the terms denoting some agricultural buildings: sabzeli, Begheli (or nalia); also, zghve, tavani, kevkokha, tsuruqi. tcheri, tsetsxlapiri, tsuruqi, tchado, tcheri, tscuchnua and many others. It is very interesting and remarkable to come to the conclusion, through our terms investigation, how important ethnographic data can be for the branch of dialectology.
