Georgian scientific and technical language and terms encounter difficulties, negatively affecting some textbooks and manuals. Technical progress extremely declined the normative standards of the Georgian language and especially, technical terms.
Rapid terminological changes have occurred in nearly all fields and especially in the field of Informatics; therefore, existing Georgian
and Russian technical terms are not sufficient for modern requirements and
edition of the newly structured vocabulary of technical terms with its brief
explanations is of great importance. Terminology should be improved and
simplified, renewed and updated with new terms while old ones and terms
families should be excluded from the vocabulary.
Hopefully, the "Law of Georgia on the official language" will provide
solution of the problems related to technical terminology.
The article deals with issues of the explanation of general technical
terms and the rationality of term families.
