The contribution of Ivane Javakhishvili in development of Georgian legal terminology, who was one of the founders of Tbilisi State University, academician, the author of fundamental works in almost every field of science, was once again revealed while working on “The basic definitions of criminology terms, terms in Georgian, English and Russian” at the Criminology Scientific-Research Institute of Grigol Robakidze University. He was first who brought together law and economic historical terms. Unfortunately, materials protected in ancient Georgian legal documents were not enough to explain terms. That was the reason the scientist used historical and ecclesiastic documents.

For the 140 anniversary of one of the founders of the Tbilisi State University, academician Ivane Javakhishvili, the thorough research and publishing of above-mentioned protected materials of Ivane Javakishvili became actual. It was supported by the University and the leaderships of the Korneli Kekelidze’s National Center for Manuscripts.

Law faculty employees of the Korneli Kekelidze’s National Center for Manuscripts and Ivane Javaxishvili’s Tbilisi state university joined the project called “The academician Ivane Javakhishvili’s materials for the dictionary of old Georgian legal and economic terms ”. By cooperation they worked on the materials protected in archive and created their electronic version.

The research revealed that law and economics historical terms, which were unreleased and unknown to the public are kept in archives (3442 cards), including academician Ivane Javakhishvili’s autograph performed by ink (1789 cards).

It is also important to note that the photograph was taken of each card kept in the archive which will contribute to the scientific research and the implementation of above mentioned project properly, also to specify and compare terms to the original.

In addition to the scientific research, it’s advisable to publish separate album of the unique cards written from the historical documents by academician Ivane Javakhishvili.
