It is quite clear that the beginning of the third millennium makes the historical languages face the new challenges. At this stage of the development of the civilization, on the one hand, it seems that the communicative function of a language became extremely simplified but on the other hand the conditions of the existence of the official (state) languages became so versatile, comprehensive, dynamic and intense that keeping the traditional, gained living space is a vital problem even for the leading languages. That is why planning the rational, pragmatic policy of the functioning and development of the state languages is a strategic objective for today’s developed countries.

At present, there is almost no field that does not need a reform of a professional, specialized language, a specialized, terminological dictionary. In modern Georgia mainly those “white spots” caused the crisis of the state language and accordingly of the educational sector (with a broad scope) and everyone sees and recognizes the need of tackling it.

We believe that the law of the state language will be a sufficient support in order to make deliberate and well-planned institutional steps in the field of the language policy. In this regard we have a quite solid scientific and practical legacy. On the bases of these historical experience and rich legacy, considering the lessons of the turning ages, the latest educational task of the country is related to the fastest development of the specialized languages and the improvement of the modern terminology. This is the most urgent, national task for the development of the professional education and science and it should be one of the priorities of the state strategy.
